Sophie Theen

What did you study (at school, college or university)?
Mechanical Engineering
How did you get into technology?
I started off by completing my degree in mechanical engineering. Since I've graduated however, I've only been in a graduate program for less than a year with Dulux Group before making my first career move into Technical Recruitment. From there, I went on to pursuing a career in fixing problems in people, not machines. For 5 years, I had led recruitment projects with Ford, General Motors, IBM before moving to Revolut and led them through hypergrowth bringing their final headcount to 300 in under 8 months. Now, I'm with 11FS to define their ultimate working culture via a series of employer branding efforts.
Sophie, what company do you work for?
11FS
What do you do at your current company?
Head of HR and Talent
What advice would you give to girls looking to get into a tech related career?
You don’t need to be a technical expert or a genius coder to thrive in the technology industry. Tech underpins so many successful brands today, thanks to the forward thinking way of innovation which is what truly matters.
